As a female in the comedy sector of film and television, Malena continuously explores the joys and pitfalls of women and men, and their multitude of relationships. Her writing is often based on personal experiences that, after years of therapy & a teenage rebellion that lasted until she was 21, she now finds comical.
Some of these experiences include: her parents' divorce, reading Twilight for the first time and loving it, her duel with depression, finding out what 'feminist' means & that she actually is one, coming out as bisexual (or whatever the kids are calling it these days), and the worries of being a broke 28-year old struggling with literally everything in LA. She plays with the pain and awkwardness of "growing up," adulthood, getting lost, what it means to be your own person, and attempting to find the light in the dark.
Malena now finds herself at a quarter-life crisis, which she's able to write about with sincerity and comic relief to let others know they're not alone.
